Professional Soccer Player. He played once for the United States at the 1950 FIFA World Cup, vs Spain. He was born in Poland (now part of Ukraine) and fled to England in 1939 when World War II broke out. He was a first division player in Poland, with one of pre-war Poland's top clubs, Pogoñ Lwów. He played for Blackpool in England during the war and then came to Chicago after the war, where he worked as a butcher. He played for the Chicago Maroons and AAC Eagles and joined the Chicago Falcons in 1950, from which he was selected for the United States team. He won the US Open Cup in 1953 with the Falcons. He was elected to the US Soccer Hall of Fame in 1976.
