Master Sergeant, US Army AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Mark E. Cooper, 72, entered into rest Friday, August 12, 2005 at University Hospital.

Mr. Cooper was a native of Alleghany County, Virginia, but lived in Augusta for over twenty years. He is the son of the late Rennie and Lee Ona Newcomb Cooper and a member of South Haven Baptist Church. He retired as an MSG-E8 from the US Army after twenty seven years of service. He also retired from Plant Vogtle as a Security Officer after ten years of service.

Mr. Cooper was a beloved husband and father. Family members include his wife, Mary Sue Cooper of Augusta; three daughters, Ann Wells and husband Bill of Lincolnton; Mary Lee Johnson and dear friend Sammy James of Hephzibah; Teresa Gillette and husband Allen of Forest, VA; one son, Troy Hutcheson and wife Michele of Waynesboro; three brothers, Douglas Cooper and wife Bernice and Albert Cooper both of Lynchburg, VA; and, Tex Cooper of Virginia Beach, VA; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Roy Hall, Jr. and two brothers, Billy Cooper and Charles Cooper.

Memorial Services will be held 4 PM, Tuesday, August 16, 2005 at Poteet Funeral Home, South Chapel with the Rev. Charles Peters officiating. Friends may visit the family at the residence.
