Jean Louise Snead was born to Georgie Eppling Snead and her husband Christy Snead. Georgie was an elementary school teacher and Christy taught High School and then was a professor at Longwood College.

Jean was an only child, with no siblings.

She grew up and married Berkley Ernest Adams when she was just 19 yrs old. They moved to Oklahoma, later to Indiana and then on to Ohio. Finally she moved to Chevy Chase, Maryland and lived in that area for the next 47 years. Washington DC and it's surrounding cities were her most favorite places to be in the whole country. She adored living there and participating in her community.

Jean got a Master's Degree in Early Childhood education and was an elementary school teacher for many years. Later on in her career she went back to college and got a degree in Microbiology and then worked at The Bethesda Naval Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland.

She enjoyed many activities including: horseback riding, bike riding, folk dancing, swimming, listening to music, esp. jazz (Thelonious Monk, Django Reinhardt,Charlie Byrd, Miles Davis,& Billie Holiday). She was also an avid reader, and read everything from the New York Times, The Washington Post, The New Yorker magazine, to all sorts of books. She enjoyed going to reading groups at the library as well.

Jean loved going to the theater to see plays (esp. at the Kennedy Center), going to see ballets or to listen to an orchestra play. She enjoyed antique hunting and socializing with friends.

She did a lot of volunteering work after she retired, which included helping children with reading at a local school and acting as a greeter at The Strathmore in Rockville. The job she loved most of all was being a docent at The Library of Congress.

Jean and Berk had two daughters: Christie and Leslie. Sadly her daughter Leslie died in 2013.

She was predeceased by her second husband George Spencer with him dying in 2001.

Jean is survived by her daughter Christie and several very special cousins.
