ALICE LEVENIA McLELLAND
Died, Thursday, July 12th, at 12 o'clock, ALICE LEVENIA McLELLAND, beloved wife of Fletcher McLelland, in the twenty-fourth year of her age, daughter of R. R. and Sarah Padgett, of Henrico county, after a lingering illness, which she bore with Christian fortitude, perfectly resigned to death.
She leaves two small children, many relatives and friends to mourn their loss.
Let me go, the day is breaking,
Dear ones let me go;
We have spent a night of waking
In the wilderness below.
Friends and kindred weep not so,
If you love me let me go;
We have travelled long together,
Wrestling thus with doubts and fears.
Angels wait my soul to carry
When my Lord appears;
Yet I must farewell to you.
Answer one and all, adieu.
The funeral will take place at her mother's residence, in Henrico county, at 4 o'clock Friday afternoon. Friends of the family are invited to attend.
Published in The Richmond Dispatch (Richmond, Virginia) on Friday, July 13, 1883.
NOTE: The cemetery transcription spells her last name as 'McClellan'. Other family members spell the name as 'McLelland'.
