WILLIAM T. ABBOTT

William Thomas Abbott, age 67, died at his home at 806 S. 17th St., yesterday afternoon. Mr. Abbott was taken seriously ill last Friday and developed pneumonia, which was the cause of his death. He had been employed at the Maxwell until 2 weeks ago.
He leaves a widow and eight daughters. The funeral services will be held at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William Leggett, tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at their home in Westwood. Burial will be in South Mound.

OBITUARY

William T., son of Matthew and Harriett Abbott, was born on Geneva Island, Muscatine county, IA, March 13, 1855. Departed his earthly life July 8, 1920, aged 65 years, 3 months and 25 days.
On March 4, 1884, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Carpenter and to this union were given nine children, two of these, Bertha and Elma have preceded father to the Great Beyond.
During the pastorate of Rev. Frank Powers, of the Sulphur Springs Christian Church, he confessed his sins to god and publicly acknowledged the same by uniting with the church, in which fellowship he remained until his death. He was a kind husband, affectionate father and good neighbor. He leaves behind; his aged companion, seven surviving daughters: Mrs. Nellie Hawkins of Greensboro, Mrs. Nora Ballard of Millville, Mrs. Harriett Leggett of Westwood, New Castle, R.R.8, Mrs. Iona Studebaker and Mrs. Luretta Williams both of Municie, Wilma and Josephine Abbott both at home, a number of near relatives and a host of friends.
"Death rides on every passing breeze,
He lurks in every flower.
It is a path that all must trod,
If man would ever pass to God.
He liveth long, who liveth well,
All else is being thrown away.
He liveth longest, who can tell,
Of true things truly done each day."
