George McDonald Rites Held Sunday Afternoon
Nixon-George P. McDonald died after illness of four weeks at his home near Nixon on June 23 at 6:15 p.m. He was born on Jan . 4, 1862, and at the time of his death was 88 years, 5 months and 19 days old.
The body lay in state at the Mennenga funeral home until Sunday afternoon, when the funeral services were held with Rev. D. L. Gibson in charge and with Rev. H. H. Washington assisting. Interment was in the Nixon cemetery.
He leaves his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Tillie Talley and Mrs. Henry Murphy of Nixon, two sons, Melvin of Nixon and Dewey of Port Arthur and several grandchildren.
One of his grandsons is the acting postmaster, Elmo Murphy, of Nixon.
