Marinda Joyce Hargis
Marinda Joyce Hargis, 54, of Madison Heights, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband, Michael Ellis Hargis.
Born in Lynchburg, Dec. 15, 1958, she was the daughter of the late James Burford Joyce. She was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and had a passion for helping people in need.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, James Davis and his wife Patrice of Port Aransas, Texas; four daughters, Joyce Campbell of Killeen, Texas, Crystal Davis, Maria Ortiz and Mary Hargis, all of Madison Heights; one stepdaughter, Michelle Hargis of Norfolk; and 12 grandchildren.
A funeral service was conducted Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at Oakdale Baptist Church with Pastor Terry Wornstaff officiating. Interment followed in Meade Cemetery. The family received friends Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
