David Sharrocks "Dave" Day, 78, longtime resident Westford, passed away on the morning of December 26th, 2014, after a long illness. He was married 49 years.
David Day was born in Worcester, MA, the son of the late Harry H. Day and Mildred (McKeown) Day. He grew up on West Street in Leominster and graduated from Leominster High School in 1953. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy becoming an AE2 with the VA65 squadron, working on the flight decks of the USS Shangri-La (CVA38) and USS Midway (CV41). After leaving the Navy he worked at the Lowell Gas Company while attending Lowell Technological Institute. He was a member of the Delta Kappa Phi Fraternity and graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1965. After graduation, he joined the General Electric Aircraft Engine Group in Lynn where he worked as a Mechanical Engineer for 27 years, retiring in 1993.
David was a devoted family man and member of his community. He volunteered as the Cubmaster of Pack 95 for eight years and coached each of his sons in the Westford Town League Basketball for over a decade.

Relatives & Friends are invited to his graveside service with Military Honors on Monday, January 5th at 1:00 pm at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Westford. Arrangements by the J.A.
