Served in Company G of the 91st Illinois Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War. He was disabled in April of 1865 and mustered out. He enlisted at Camp Butler and was Mustered out at Chicago, Illinois. Father of 9 children with his wife Nancy Suter, born in Kentucky in 1828. They were married in Lynneville, IL on August 10, 1848. They resided in Scott/Morgan county area until at least 1866 before moving to Eddyville, Iowa where he are believed to have passed away. We believe they moved to live with children who married and moved to Iowa. Nancy returned to Greene County, IL sometime between 1878 and 1884.
