She was born on October 8, 1949, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Fred and Helen M. (Dey) Zellner.
Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer (Amy) Nims; sister, Betty Lou Funkhouser; brother, Gilbert Zellner; nephew, Mark (Karen) Funkhouser; 3 nieces, Anita Funkhouser, Mary Zellner and Stephanie Zellner; and many great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Clifford Zellner; and brother-in-law, Paul Funkhouser.
Helen graduated in 1967 from Scipio-Republic High School and was manager of Circle K at Six’s Corner for 37 years – first as Lawson’s, then through the years until it became Circle K. She was proud of her work and had earned two, merit-based trips (Cabo and Costa Rica) she took Jen on, because of her hard work. She loved going to the Casino to play slot machines while rooting on Jen in poker tournaments. Baking was her specialty. She enjoyed making cakes, pies, cookies and danishes; but she was mostly known for her pumpkin rolls. Her record was 57 rolls, one holiday season; taking orders from anyone and everyone. She was always tickled but kind about the cooking and baking blunders of her daughter-in-law. Helen was an animal lover, always with one or two or six rescued animals. She was unconditionally generous and would give her shirt (money, refrigerator, whatever) to anyone who needed it.
Her funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio, (419) 447-2424, with Bob Adelsperger officiating. Burial will follow in Seneca Memory Gardens.
Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Humane Society of Seneca County (2811 State Route 100 Tiffin, OH – (419) 447-5704), would be appreciated.
Condolences may be sent and the guestbook signed at www.hgmackfuneralhome.com.
