Lori was a graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy. Lori married Wayne K. Achilles on February 24, 1979. She attended Word of Life Bible Institute in Schroon Lake, New York and had taken numerous college credit courses. She was an instructional assistant in the Woodsville Elementary School for many years.
In 1996 she began teaching Kindergarten and also the pre-school program at the Union Baptist Church in Waterford, VT, until its closing in 2005. Lori had recently been homeschooling her youngest daughter, Danielle. She also had been arranging and providing home healthcare for her mother in law, Margaret Davidson.
Lori was a very active member of the First Baptist Church of Groton in Groton, VT. She was a Sunday school teacher, was a coordinator of Operation Christmas Child, and AWANA. She was a member of the Vermont State Sugar Makers Association, Caledonia County Sugar Makers, Sponsor for Compassion International, and for many years the Achilles family was a host family for Fresh Air. She was predeceased by her parents, Gerald and Gwendolyn (Thomas) Sidell.
Survivors include her husband of 31 years, Wayne Achilles of Barnet, VT; four children, Kristine L. Aseltine and husband Johnny of Tannersville, PA, Andrew S. Achilles of Barnet, VT, Jennifer H. Chumbes and husband Renzo of North Haverhill, NH, and Danielle E. Achilles of Barnet, VT; six grandchildren, Tori, Katie, Johnny, and Abi Aseltine and Nathaniel and Andre Chumbes; two sisters, Karen Curran and husband Walter of South Attleboro, MA and Kim Grenier and husband John of Marlborough, MA; her brother, Thomas Sidell of Somersworth, NH; her mother-in-law, Margaret Davidson of Barnet, VT; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Calling hours will be on Friday, February 18, from 6 to 8 PM at the Union Baptist Church, 932 U.S. Route 5, Waterford, VT The funeral service will be on Saturday, February 19, at 11 AM at the Union Baptist Church, Waterford, VT. Pastor Paul Powers and Pastor Dennis Walton will co-officiate. Burial will be held in the spring.
