He graduated from South Whitley High School with the Class of 1969. Following high school, Larry enlisted with the U.S. Marine Corps. On April 7, 1973, he married the love of his life, Sharon Davis in Columbia City. He had worked 20 years at Gripco and 24 years at Reelcraft where he had over 21 years of perfect attendance. He had been a member of Leathernecks of Whitley County and the American Legion, Post 98 in Columbia City and attended First Church of God. Larry was a proud supporter of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing horseshoes.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Davis; daughter, Michelle (Cory) Wilcox of Columbia City; son, Randy (Dana) Davis of Columbia City; six brothers; one sister; five grandchildren, Cain Davis, Trentin Garwood, Brittany Wilcox, Mya Davis and Andrea Teegarden; and two great-grandchildren, Dean and Layiah. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 27, 2015 from 1 to 8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the funeral home with Rev. Johnny McCallister officiating. Burial will follow at South Park Annex Cemetery with the Whitley Co. Korean War Veteran’s Honor Guard rendering military honors. Memorial gifts may be given in Mr. Davis's memory to the VA Northern Indiana Health Care System, Leathernecks or to the family, I.C.O. Sharon Davis.
