Everett "Biff" Jewell, 94, of Burlington, died at 11:54 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015, at the Blair House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Burlington.

Born March 16, 1921, in Cheboygan, he was the son of Allen Wesley and Lilly Gae (McRae) Jewell and was raised on Bois Blanc Island, Mich. In February of 1943, Biff joined the U.S. Army and was stationed at Camp Ellis in Macomb, Ill. where he met Mary Julia Rakoczy of Chicago, Ill. They were married Feb. 10, 1945 and had celebrated 62 years together.

Before and after joining the Army, he was a Park Ranger at Tahquamenon Falls State Park, Mich. Biff and Mary moved to Cheboygan, where Biff worked in sales. Later moving to Muscatine, Iowa working sales and then in management for a propane gas company. He was transferred to Owosso, Mich. in 1968. He retired in 1983 and moved back to Cheboygan. In 2012, he moved to Burlington to be closer to family.

He enjoyed music, playing his guitar in bands as a young man, and later jamming with his friends. He continued to play music into his 90's. His other interests were deer hunting, traveling, RVing, playing cards, and he especially looked forward to going to Arizona every winter.

Survivors include his daughter, Dawn (Hermann) Boche of Carman, Ill.; one son, David (Brenda) Jewell of Wales, Mich.; five grandchildren, Roger (Robin), Scott (Kelly), and Andrew (Wendy) Boche, and Lindsay and Benjamin Jewell; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three nephews, Ralph, Allen and Louie (Marylou) Jewell; and one niece, Beverly Chambers.
Besides his beloved wife, Biff was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Fay Jewell; one sister, Pearl Anderson; five nieces, and a nephew.

Visitation will be from 12 - 4 p.m. with the family to receive friends from 2 - 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.

The funeral service for Mr. Jewell will be 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 23, 2015, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Rev. Father Bill Roush officiating and full military honors rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home following the service. Another visitation will be from 9 - 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015, at the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home in Cheboygan. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery with full military honors.

Memorials have been established for the American Cancer Society and Great River Hospice.
