Shirley Mae Doucet Adams, 86, of Westwego, died peacefully at home, at her family's side, from natural causes on February 22, 2015, in Prairieville, La. She was born to the late Eddie and Azelina Doucet, in Westwego, La. French was her first language, English her second. She graduated from Westwego High in 1945. She married Ferdinand Adams in 1949 in Westwego where they raised their six children. She survived her husband of 49 years. After a stroke in 2003, she was cared for by her daughter Lisa and son-in-law Dwayne Littrell. Shirley professionally prepared Income Tax Returns from 1947 until 2003. She also co-founded the Westwego Civic Association with her husband. She freely shared meals in her home and donated to the less fortunate, even creating herbal medicine for the sick and weary who crossed her doorstep. She was a guardian angel to many and she loved to dance. Shirley survived her siblings including, Eva Doucet Savoie, Eunice Doucet Lanassa, and Joseph Doucet. Shirley is survived by her children Jay Adams, Lisa Adams Littrell, Scott Adams, Margaret Adams and Victor Adams. Her second son Brooks Adams passed away in 1990. Shirley is also survived by her grandchildren Wayne Littrell, Slade Adams, and Jessica Adams McNeir. And also by her great grandchildren: Jayden Stafford, James Littrell, Landis Adams, Ethan Adams and Daxton Littrell. She was greatly loved and will be missed. The Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church in Westwego, La. on Saturday, March 7th from 10 a.m.~12 p.m. with Mass following. Rosary will be held at 11:30 a.m. by Legion of Mary. Her ashes will later be interred at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery in Westwego, La. with her the rest of her family.
