There marriage Certificate states that there cert. was issued 7 June 1869 and executed 9 June 1869 by John Dunn.
James probate record indicates that he died 1 April 1932 in Clay County, Texas.
Susan (West) Cantrell/Cantwell is not in the 1850 Census with her parents William West and Susannah Carrico. She is in the 1860 Census with her parents as 8 years old. this puts her birth about 1852 not 1850.

At least in later years James went by the name Cantwell. This according to confederate pension pertinent to him and William B. Cantwell. These applications state that they enlisted together in 1863 and served in Sims Battalion, Texas Calvary, Company A. The names used on the application and documents is Jim Cantwell and on the signature JJ Cantwell and he states he is a cousin of WB. WB States they enlisted together. served together, were 'turned' loose in Louisiana together and returned home together. In Young Co. Probate records, his death date is given as 1 April 1932.

James was enlisted in Co. "A" Col Sims Bn of Cav. for 2 years. he served until the end of the war.
James filed for a confederate state pension in Aug 1930 and received this until his death. Susan applied for a widows pension on 2 May 1932.
