MOUNT SIDNEY – Michael Leonard "Mike" Doyle, 66, of Mount Sidney, passed away Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015, at his home.

Mike was born in Casper, Wyoming, on Sept. 25, 1948, and was a son of the late Iris (Howie) and Robert W. Doyle.

On June 3, 1972, he married Pamela L. (St. John) Doyle who faithfully remained by his side for 42 years and provided care and support, for which his children will be forever grateful.

Mike received his bachelor’s degree in English from University of Wyoming, and his master’s degree in English from Purdue University. He worked as an english professor at Blue Ridge Community College in Weyers Cave, with over 14 years of service. Prior to moving to the valley he taught at Casper College in Casper, Wyoming from 1992 until 2000, and had served as headmaster of Winchester Christian School in Casper, Wyoming, from 1988 until 1992.

Teaching, his students and his love for education were among Mike's greatest passions, impacting thousands of students. His favorite novel was Moby Dick. Other passions included gardening, genealogy, traveling and his love for animals, especially his beloved Chief.

He devoted his life to his family and friends. He cherished time with his family, especially his grandchildren. His great wit and sense of humor carry on through his family and will be greatly missed.

In addition to his wife Pam, Mike is also survived by a daughter, Jennifer K. (Doyle) Hudson and husband Brandon, of Staunton; a son, Benjamin R. Doyle, of Staunton; three sisters, Patricia Kelly and husband Dan, of Casper, WY, DeMaris Middleton and husband Lee, of Sundance, WY, and Donna Wirth and husband Lyle, of Casper, WY; four grandchildren, Abigail, Hayden, Ruth, and Noah Doyle, and their mother, Megan Doyle; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and seven siblings, Madeline Nansen, Robert Doyle, Doris Burchfield, Wanda McDaniel, Charles Doyle, Muriel Lucille Doyle and Donald Lee Doyle.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 5, 2015, at Victory Worship Center in Staunton, with Marc Sundstrom officiating. Burial will follow at Thornrose Cemetery in Staunton.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at Johnson Funeral Service in Grottoes.

A memorial service honoring Mike’s memory will be in Casper, Wyoming at a date and time to be determined. News Leader 28 Feb 2015.
