Ossie was the daughter of Squire Newton Underwood & Margaret Merrill Underwood. She married David Switzer, the son of Samuel & Mollie Fain Switzer. The couple were the parents of Rosa May, Crockett, Margaret Virginia, Katie and Beatrice Martha Switzer.
Their family moved to Lexington, Kentucky, prior to 1930 and Mr. and Mrs. Switzer spent the remainder of their lives in that city. She passed away from the effects of an acute coronary occlusion, complicated by a history of rheumatic heart disease. Following funeral services, Mrs. Switzer's remains were sent to Jessamine County and laid to rest beside those of her late husband.
