"Bishop is related to the famous Holmes family of literary and legal distinction. When 21 years old he came alone to Twinsburg. In 1840 the couple bought the farm in Solon where they lived all their lives except for a few years keeping store in Twinsburg. Fannie and Stanford are buried in the Solon Center Cemetery. Among their neighbors in Solon were James Cannon, a cousin of Melissa's father and his ancient account book preserved in the family shows many pairs of boots made for Americus and others of the Bishop children."
