In 1840 the couple bought the farm in Solon where they lived all their lives except for a few years keeping store in Twinsburg. Fannie and Stanford are buried in the Solon Center Cemetery. Among their neighbors in Solon were James Cannon, a cousin of Melissa's father and his ancient account book preserved in the family shows many pairs of boots made for Americus and others of the Bishop children."
