From Tombstone Insc. of Limestone Co., ALI met Mrs.Callie Edmundson back in the early 1990s. Mr. Donald Anderson, a gentleman I had met in Bethel, took me to her home and we had coffee with her and she tried to fill me in on the history of Bethel as she knew it. It seems he husband was the Doctor in Bethel of good many years and had an office building which is still standing on the corner by the Masonic Lodge Building. It appears to be still in good repair but vacant.
Mrs. Edmundson got into the car with Mr. Anderson and myself and we toured Giles County and a lot of the cemeteries and churches. She told me about the cotton gin that was behind the doctors office that belonged to the Haney's. My Great Grandfather Isaac Haney and a store and gin in Bethel at one time. We also visited the Brown Cemetery which is a mile or so east of Bethel. That where her husband and his family was buried.
She was typical country doctors wife. She presented her self well and was informed. I visited her several times but last time I found that she had passed away. I only knew he briefly but I felt like we were friends.
