Ruth began a rewarding career with the American Red Cross, as a volunteer in 1985. She retired from there as the Head of Disaster Relief. She enjoyed reading, gardening and playing Scrabble with her sister, Betty. Ruth most enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and best friend, her dog, Abby.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Carson, in 1973; an infant son Donald; and two sisters, Joyce Hetzel and Shirley Kikola.
Survivors include her children: Dawn Marie Niemiec (Dan), Jim Carson and Patrick Carson (Patty); two sisters, Betty Fairchild and Margaret Wasser (Hollie); ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
