He was born June 9, 1916, in Mason City, Iowa, the son of Marion C. and Jennie Brandt Frantz.
He married Jane Ellen Warrick in 1941; she died in 1973.
He married Josephine Bonansinga in 1982; she died in 2003.
Mr. Frantz retired as an accountant.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Lincoln Eagles Club and Lincoln American Legion Post 263.
He was a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge and a member of Shriner's Club for many years. He was a member since 1940 and served as secretary of the Elks Club.
He served on the Lincoln Elementary School Board of District 27 and on the board of the Lincoln Park District. He served as home services director of Red Cross and as a board member of Senior Citizens Center.
He served as the county treasurer from 1962-66 and as county clerk from 1966-94.
He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II, serving as a B-17 pilot. He was shot down in Europe and was a prisoner of war for 14 months.
Survivors: son, Peter J. (wife, Carol) Frantz of Lincoln; daughter, Janeann (husband, Tom) Meredith of Grayslake; sister, Barbara Swearingen of Atlanta; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, First United Methodist Church, Lincoln.
Burial: New Union Cemetery, Lincoln.
