ELIZABETHVILLE-Anna Jean Bennett Ditty, 88, passed away peacefully early on March 2, 2015. She is survived by her children, Jeff, Luana, Ken, and Sue plus grandchildren, Andrew, Elizabeth, Ethan and Allison and 1 great-grandson, Nicholas. She is also survived by her brother Richard Bennett, of Hampton, VA and many nieces and nephews. Anna was preceded in death by her husband Charles, and her sisters Charlotte Johnson and Bertie Maynor.

She was a gregarious person with an irreverent sense of humor, a huge heart and a special affinity for those in need. She was blessed with common sense, empathy and compassion. A part of Anna remains with each person whose life she touched. Caring and cooking for her family and grandchildren gave her great pleasure. She based her life on three principles, Faith, Family, Friends.

Anna Jean was an Author and Poet. As a telephone operator during WWII, she met her husband Charles, who was stationed at Fort Monroe, VA. She wrote and self-published the autobiographical Back to West Virginia Series, a trilogy about her life as a young girl in WV during the Great Depression through adulthood and adapting to life in the PA countryside.

She co-founded the Elizabethville Girl Scout troop in 1964 and after retiring from Johnson Baillie Shoe Company was a tireless volunteer at LifeLine Pregnancy Care Center and her church food and clothing banks.
