Chattanooga Times, December 31, 1949:
"Bearden - Mrs. Bertha K., 61, died Friday morning at the
residence, 502 Cherry Street. She is survived by her husband,
Clarence E. Bearden; four children, Mrs. V. G. Ray, Mrs. Lula
Mae Stone, Carl V. and Boyd Bearden; two brothers, Ernest Freeman, Atlanta, Ga.; Lon Freeman, Collinsville, Ala.; three sisters,
Mrs. Cora Rains, Morganville, Ga.; Mrs. Will Beck and
Mrs. J. G. Cornelison, both of Chattanooga; eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held from the Hughes Avenue Baptist Church at 2:30 Sunday afternoon with the Revs. Dewey Adams,
W. D. Steele and T. J. Smith conducting. Burial will be in
Forest Hills Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Eugene Dutto,
Borden Chambers, Horace Anderson, M. H. Armstrong, I. N. Roberts,
J. H. Christmas. Honorary pallbearers will be the Dorcas Class
of the Hughes Avenue Baptist Church. The body will be at the
residence, 502 Cherry Street, after 9:30 a.m. this morning. Arrangements by National Funeral Home."
