18 Dec 1907 Emil married Franciska Schiller daughter of Josef Schiller and Frances Dusek. Emil referred to her as Fannie. They had one son and four daughters.
He farmed in Travis County until he retired to a home in Elgin, Bastrop County. The house was built by Emil and some brothers. Shortly after the home finished, Emil died with a heart attack.
