Ray Sell of Boulder passed away peacefully with his family at his side on October 26th. Born and raised in Chicago, Ray joined the Army Air Corp during WWII serving in 43 missions as a B-24 navigator in the Pacific. Ray returned to Chicago after the war and earned his electrical engineering degree, then joined IBM, where he worked for nearly 40 years in Chicago, Poughkeepsie, Lexington, and Boulder. He married Mary Catherine Magee, who survives him, on January 30th, 1954. Ray and Mary enjoyed travelling, visiting Ecuador, Mexico, China, Greece, Rome, Spain, and many US National Parks. Social activism was also very important to them, and they received the Rocky Mountain Justice Center's Peacemaker of the Year award. Much admired and known to all as kind, considerate, intelligent and well-read. Ray enjoyed nature, science and politics, and the Estes Park flying club of aviation enthusiasts, including fellow WWII Veterans. He is also survived by his three children, David (Sally), Virginia, and Valerie (Valan), and his grandchildren Michael, Alison, Kristin and Sara.
