Elizabeth M. Aviza
ALBANY Elizabeth Betty M. Aviza, of Albany, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at Community Hospice Inn, St. Peter's Hospital, Albany. Her daughter and beloved friend were by her side at the time of her passing. Born on September 26, 1919 in Albany, Elizabeth was the daughter of Frank and Anna Lauster. She served as a school crossing guard at Public School 26 in Albany from 1954-1993. Her survivors include her daughter, Bernice Aviza; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Bernard A. (Priscilla) Aviza; granddaughters, Sharon (David) Hallam of Franklin Furnace, Ohio, Pamela Aviza of Wasilla, Alaska and Kerry (Peter) Giardino of Colonie; great-grandchildren, Sarah, John and James Hallam and Abigail and Justin Giardino. She was the beloved friend of Dominic (Scott) Iacobucci. Her adopted family was that of William and Mary Jane Kennedy and their children, Mary, Ann, Dennis and Erin. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by her husband, Bernard D. Aviza, who passed away in 1974; her daughters, Elizabeth L. Aviza and Frances M. Aviza; her son, Bernard A. Aviza; her sister, Helen Langenbach; and her great-grandchildren, Bernard and Elizabeth Hallam. A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, May 20, 2006 at 10 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, 609 Central Avenue, Albany. Relatives and friends are also invited to call Friday 4 to 7 p.m. at Zwack & Sons Funeral Home, 633 Central Avenue, Albany. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Betty in a special way may send contributions to St. Peter's Hospice, 215 So. Manning Blvd., Albany or Blessed Sacrament Church, 609 Central Avenue, Albany.
