Julia was the oldest child of Raphael LaSart and Louise Goulet, Métis (mixed French-Indian), born at the Red River Settlement in the Pembina/ Manitoba region in 1848. She first married Albro Firn in St. Anthony MN in 1867. Julia and Albro had five children together between 1869 and 1878, all of whom died young. They divorced in 1879. Julia second married Peter Guinard in St. Anthony (NE Minneapolis) in 1880. They had a daughter Mary Ida who died in infancy, and a son Joseph in 1881. Julia, Peter and Joseph left the city and moved to the Gull River area near Brainerd for work there in the pinery sawmills. By 1895, Peter had returned to Minneapolis with his son, and Julia remained in Brainerd with a new partner, Joseph Almont. Julia and Peter were never legally divorced. Peter Guinard died in 1911; Julia third married Joseph Almont (with whom she had already shared a home for around 20 years) in 1913. Joseph Almont died in 1921, and Julia died in 1929 at age 81.
