Florence Petty Young, 75, of Mildred, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2015, at Country Meadow’s Nursing and Rehab Center in Corsicana, Texas. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2015, at Corley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 7, 2015, at the Corley Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Chad Owens officiating. Interment will follow in Providence Cemetery in Mildred.
Florence Christine was born in Mildred, Texas, to the late Eark Severe and Obie Nita Mosley Petty. She had a great love for her Lord, her family and her church family at Unity Baptist Church where she and her husband where active members. Florence loved to sing anytime she was given the opportunity. She was employed with Wal-Mart in the electronics department, and retired from there after many years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, William Eugene Young on May 29, 2014; a son, Larry Eugene Young; a great-granddaughter, Whitney Douthit; brothers: David, Robert, Billy, and Roy Wayne Petty; and sisters, Lorene Wishon and Laura Dill.
Survivors include her son, William Lynn Young, of Dawson; daughters: Cynthia Trull and husband, James, of Mildred, Hazel Bullard and husband, Joe, of Mildred, and Sharon Chapman and husband, Jason of Waxahachie; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; sisters: Margie Harris and husband, Harold, of Yantis, Joyce Wiese and husband, Willie, of Corsicana, and Ruth McCall and husband, Albert, of Red Oak; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, other relatives and many friends.
