Virgil Dean Gray left behind two granddaughters, 31-year-old Shanda Carter and 29-year-old Felisha Lee, and a grandson, 27-year-old Jerry Dean Lee. He also had three great-grandchildren, including a newborn baby girl, and a brother W. LEE O'DANIEL (DAN) GRAY, as well as a living 98-year-old mother and extended family.

Virgil will be buried in a family plot in Coleman next to his wife. Arrangements will be handled by Steven’s Funeral Home in Coleman.

SAN ANGELO - Dean Gray, 74, of San Angelo, and former Coleman resident, died Wednesday, March 4, 2015, in San Angelo. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday, March 15, 2015, at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman, Texas 76834. Graveside funeral service is at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 2015, in the Coleman Cemetery Pavilion with Brother Reuben Packer officiating. Interment will follow in the Coleman Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, Coleman.
Dean Gray was born Dec. 19, 1940, in Burkett, Texas, a son of Annie Merle Walker Gray Trent and the late Lee Gray. Dean grew up in Coleman where he attended school. On July 4, 1959 he married Mollie Kay Jenkins in Coleman and she preceded him in death on November 8, 2000. He lived in San Antonio for 14 years before moving to San Angelo 16 years ago. He was an auto mechanic and worked for the Express News in San Antonio and the Standard-Times in San Angelo. He was employed as a mechanic at Benson Chrysler in San Antonio and D & D Garage in San Angelo. He was a member of North Ridge Baptist Church.
Survivors include his mother, Annie Merle Trent of Coleman; two sisters, Anna Lee Collins of Cedar Hill and Lavada Burkey of Coleman; two brothers, DAN GRAY of San Angelo and Glen Gray of Brownwood; three grandchildren, Shanda Carter of Weatherford, Felisha Lee of San Angelo and Jerry Lee of Monahans; one great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.He was also preceded in death by his two children, Johnny Gray and Donna Lee. Memorials may be made to Meals for the Elderly, 310 E. Houston Harte, San Angelo, Texas 76903.
