Ponoka Pioneer Dies At Age 82

Mrs. Wallace Archibald, a pioneer of the Ponoka district died today in the Ponoka hospital. She was 82.

Mrs. Archibald was born in Elgin, Scotland, and moved to Winnipeg in 1891. In 1903 she came to Alberta, and homesteaded with her husband west of Ponoka.

She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Art (Maude) Anderson and Margaret Archibald of Bellingham, Wash., and Mrs. Evan (Lilly) Godard of Edmonton; also a son, Bud Archibald of Nanton.

... Mrs. Archibald was widely known for her devotion to the welfare of farmers, and was on the board of the U.F.A. Constituency Association for many years. She was also a promoter of the cooperative movement, in which she was an organizer. She assisted in forming a rest room association in Ponoka.

An accomplished Scottish dancer in her younger days, she had taken part in many programs honoring her homeland...
