Vergie "Lee" Blevins Abshire, 70, of Hot Springs died Saturday March 18th, 2000 at her daughter's Asheville home. A native of Dante, Virginia, she had lived in Hot Springs the past 4 years. She was the daughter of the late Paul Franklin Blevins and Nanny Castle Blevins. she was proceeded in death by a brother, Ralph Blevins, a daughter Tammy Jo Abshire and two grandsons. She retired from Trailways bus lines after 20 years as a ticket agent. She also worked for Ray Bebber State Farm agency. She was a graduate of Blanton's Business College. Surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, three daughters, four sons and daughters-in-law, 20 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and her companion "Fred" the cat. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 21st in the Chapel of Faith at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. The family received friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Mountain Area Hospice or Dorlan Presbyterian Church of Hot Springs.
