She was the daughter of Michael Morrett (1788-1840) and Catherine Young (-1847).

Her husband was Daniel Stees.

Together they had seven children, the oldest of whom at eighteen years of age, enlisted as a private in Company A, 20th Pennsylvania Cavalry, and was captured by the Confederates and died in Andersonville prison Oct. 12, 1864.

Their children were:

Francis Fisler, Mardocheus Fillmore, Samuel Morrett, Daniel Reuben, James Andrew, Mary Esther, & Catharine.
