His first wife was his cousin, Minnie Alice Holsinger. In 1899 he deserted her and their 3 year old daughter Hazel Ann. Minnie Alice was pregnant with their second child, a boy, named Harlan Merle.

Abraham was known to have lived in Chicago for a time, but he eventually settled in Oakland, California, where he remarried and raised a family.
