Mr. Fanning was born April 17, 1963, in St. Joseph, where he was a lifelong resident. He was of the Christian faith.
He married Deborah Scott on Jan. 5, 1978, in St. Joseph. She survives of the home.
Winfred was preceded in death by his parents, Winfred Leroy and Elsie Irene (Taylor) Fanning and a brother, William Nicholas Fanning.
Additional survivors include a son, Winfred Leroy "Fred" Fanning III, of the home; a daughter, Amy Leanne Ellis, St. Joseph; six brothers, Phillip D., Virgil Leroy, Earl Eugene, David Lee, James Allen and Donald Ray Fanning, all of St. Joseph, and four sisters, Mary Lou Kincade, Orville, Calif., Phyllis Ann Crump, Brenda Sue Kissick and Stephanie Irene Tracey, all of St. Joseph; half-brother, Leroy Fanning, Stanberry, Mo.; and half-sisters, Barbara Jean and Lori Ann Fanning; and one grandson, Damien Ross Ellis.
Googer's wife, Debbie, is my cousin.
