Born Shirley Ann Wendel in Muskegon on Nov. 20, 1932, she was the daughter of Fred and Anna (Zahart) Wendel.
On September 5, 1953, she was united in marriage to Charles Loring ‘Bud’ Grant at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Manistee.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Manistee, former member of Michigan Association of Calligraphers, and was a Coast Guard family.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Charles ‘Bud’ Grant; by sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and JoEllen Grant, of Goodrich, and Paul and Lynne Grant, of Waterford; by six grandchildren, Melissa (David) Priester, of Rochester, Wendy (Lindsey) Hyde, of Columbus, Ga., Amanda Hewitt, of Goodrich, Ashley Beach, of Mt. Morris, Ella Shaye Grant and Laina Rae Lynn Grant, both of Waterford; by nine great grandchildren; and by her sister, Beverly Manwell of Dunedin, Fla.
Shirley was preceded in death by two infant brothers, Frederick and Karl.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on March 12 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Manistee with Rev. Mike Bell officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 p.m. until time of services.
Final interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
