William D. "Bill" Durfee, of Hansen, died Sunday, July 10, 2011, in Hansen following an accident.

He was born May 19, 1962, in Jerome, Idaho, to Mary Jo Wilson and Jim Weeks. In 1966, Mary Jo married Dennis Durfee, and together they raised Bill.

Bill graduated from Jerome High School in 1980 and moved to Phoenix, Ariz., where he worked as a landscaper and later owned his own company, Nature Works. He married Teri Stanifer in 1986, and they had three wonderful children, Amanda, William "Billy Ray" and Danny. They were later divorced. Bill moved to Jackpot, Nev., where he met and later married Lea McGhee and gained three wonderful stepsons, Christopher, Tony and Charles, and two grandchildren, Kayla and Talon. Bill and Lea settled in Hansen. Both Bill and Lea worked at Spears in Jerome, where Bill was a quality control supervisor. He loved his job and finally, after 10 years on graveyard shift, joined the day shift and said he was learning to be "human" again and enjoyed sleeping nights and seeing the sunshine. Bill loved playing video games, playing guitar and singing with his boys and his friend, Rick.

Bill is survived by his wife, Lea Durfee of Hansen; their children; two grandchildren; his parents, Mary Jo and Dennis Durfee of Hagerman and Jim and Helen Weeks of California; one sister, Michelle; and one brother, James; and many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Myrtle and Woodrow Wilson and Irene and JL Durfee; and his sister, Christina Weeks.

A celebration of Bill's life will be held at 6 p.m. this evening, Wednesday, July 13, at his parent's home, 3006 Chisholm in Hagerman, Idaho (just behind Sportsman's Lodge). Arrangements are under the care of Farnsworth Mortuary of Jerome.
