Mrs. Martha "Jane" Shoemaker Glover, age 81, of Salisbury, went to be with her Lord and Savior unexpectedly Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.

Jane was born Sept. 28, 1933, in Birmingham, Ala., to the late Ralph Semmes Shoemaker and Mary A. Campbell Shoemaker. Jane's family moved to Spencer when she was two years old. She was a 1951 graduate of Spencer High School.

Jane was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Spencer, where she sang in the choir, held various committee positions and volunteered with the Community Outreach Program.

Jane had the privilege of meeting President Truman while working for the Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C. She retired from Wachovia Bank Insurance Department. She enjoyed traveling often visiting family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Stephen Robert Floyd, Oct. 18, 1974; infant sister Mary Ruth Shoemaker; and brother Ralph "Lee" Shoemaker of Marietta, Ga.

Jane is survived by her devoted husband, Charles H. Glover of Salisbury, who she married Jan. 14, 1961; sister Linda Edith Shoemaker Coover of Fort Worth, Texas; a number of nieces and nephews; and her church family.

Visitation: The family will receive friends 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29 at First Baptist Church of Spencer.

Service: A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29 at First Baptist Church of Spencer, conducted by the Rev. Franklin Myers.

Private burial at a later date at Rowan Memorial Park.
