Lucille (Blizzard) Giovingo 87 years old, October 21, 1927, to March 10, 2015 Born in Richlands, N.C., the daughter of Levi John Blizzard and Susan Jane (Coston) Blizzard. Lucille grew up in Richlands, North Carolina and was the oldest of nine children. She attended East Carolina Teachers College and worked part-time at Jacksonville, North Carolina where she met and married Salvador (Sal) Giovingo in November 1947. They moved to the West Coast when Sal was stationed in San Diego and later San Francisco, California. They returned to the East Coast where they were stationed in Fredricksburg and Portsmouth, Virginia; Jacksonville, North Carolina; Beverly, New Jersey and finally settled in Albany, Georgia where they raised their family of four children. She received her bachelor’s degree from Georgia Southwestern College in Americus, Georgia and her Master’s Degree from the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. She taught 7th & 8th grade science at St. Teresa's School and River Road School in Albany Georgia. She left teaching and worked with her husband at their Century 21 Office in Albany, Georgia. In 2010 she moved to McLean, Virginia to be with her daughter. She continued her love for teaching by volunteering in the robotics, cyber security, and engineering programs at Chantilly Governor's STEM Academy in Chantilly Virginia. Lucille loved to travel and traveled to Germany, Italy, and France on three separate occasions. Her hobbies were sewing, gardening, cooking, and reading. She loved her Catholic faith, the opera, the theatre, the arts, her family and many friends. Lucille was preceeded in death by her husband, Sal. She is survived by her children; daughter Gina and Michael Giles of Virginia, son Jan and Sara Giovingo of Warner Robins, Georgia, son Sal and Tina Giovingo of Dawson, Georgia, and son Tony Giovingo, Thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, 11:00AM March 16, at St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Albany, Georgia. An internment will follow at Andersonville National Cemetery at Andersonville, Georgia.
