Bill married Holly Moore, a native of Oregon, on July 3, 1936, at a Presbyterian Church in San Francisco, California. They did not have children.

According to Bill's death certificate, he suffered from pulmonary insufficiency for five to ten years prior to his death and carcinoma of the lungs for ten years. The death certificate was signed by his personal physician who had been treating him since Feb 16, 1966.

It is amazing Bill lived as long as he did. As of March 2015, research indicates that most people live five years after a diagnosis of lung cancer.

The following is from an unknown newspaper dated Monday, November 17, 1980. The newspaper clipping was found in a family file.

"William Morrow Giffin, a resident of Menlo Park since 1952, died Thursday at Stanford Hospital after a long illness. He was 75.

"Mr. Giffin owned and operated the Lux Dry Cleaners of Menlo Park from 1954 to 1971 and was active in the Menlo Park Rotary Club and the Chamber of Commerce.

"A native of Fowler, Calif., he attended Fresno State College and Oregon State University.

"He is survived by his wife, Helen in Menlo Park, his sister, Bernice Van Gelder in San Francisco, and 10 nieces and nephews.
