Norma Wilson
Norma Nadine Wilson, 78, of Madison, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, at Hickory Creek of Madison.
She was born April 7, 1931, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Claude and Cecelia Hill Wilson. She was born in the family farmhouse at Big Creek on land that was taken to be part of Jefferson Proving Ground. She was a 1949 graduate of North Madison High School and spent most of her life in the Madison area. She was a telephone operator early in her working life, and also worked in Dr. Beetem's office. She earned an LPN nursing degree and from 1958 to 1980 she was a psychiatric LPN attendant at Madison State Hospital. After 22 years of working in nursing, she began traveling across the United States. She also enjoyed trips to the ocean, fishing, gardening and reading.
She is survived by one son, Mark S. Holt of Madison; one daughter, M. Diane Signore of California; one granddaughter; one cousin; and several nieces, great-nieces, great-nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by infant twin children; her parents; and three sisters, Lucille Adams, Frances Gosman and Florie Craig Thacker
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 6, at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre. Burial will be in Big Creek Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service. The rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Ulster Project. Contribution cards are available at the funeral home.
