He was born October 14, 1923 to the late Emmit and Bessie (Julian) Swain. Wilbur was a life long farmer, born, raised and lived in the same house his entire life. Wilbur was a member of St. Jacob's Lutheran Church in Tarlton and a graduate of Stoutsville High School.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mary (Helser) Swain; children, Sharon (William) Crothers of Wintergreen, VA, Ronald (Tessie) Swain of Lancaster, and Randall (Dianna) Swain of Amanda; grandchildren, Jessica and Scott (Kat) Crothers, Sarah (Jeremy) Hoepf, Benjamin (Chelsea) Swain, Matthew (Lori, Swain, Bethany (Seth) Watts, Rebecca. Zackary and Leah Swain; 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Wilbur was preceded in death by his brother, Glenn Swain and sister, Joan Swain.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2015 at the Taylor Funeral Home in Amanda with Pastor Thomas Underwood officiating.
Burial to follow in Maple Hill Cemetery in Stoutsville. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
The family requests memorial donations to the Amanda Clearcreek Scholarship Fund in Wilbur's memory.
