U.S. Veteran John A. Hochstetler age 81 of Hicksville, OH passed away on March 11, 2015. He was born on September 3, 1933 to Albert M. and Anna L. (Miller) Hochstetler. He married Marilyn Meroney in Wawaka, IN on March 16, 1958. She preceded him in death. John married Martha Stoll on July 24, 2004 in Hicksville, OH. She survives in Hicksville, OH.
John honorably served his country in the Air Force for four years. He was employed with Consolidated Freightways as a truck driver. John also was a member of the Pleasant Lake Mennonite church and member of the Lions club. In his recent years he was a member of the Mennonite church in Hicksville, OH. John loved woodworking and was a godly man who loved to study God’s word and share his faith with others.

He is survived by: His wife, Martha (Stoll) Hochstetler, three children, son, Ronald (Paula) Hochstetler of Arlington, VA, Daughter, Irma M. (Kevin) Ferguson of Pleasant Lake, IN. and Daughter, Gail L. (Steve) Shively of Pleasant Lake, IN. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren along with two step-daughters, two step-grandchildren, two step-great grandchildren, and a sister Elizabeth Miller.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, his parents, two brothers, (Dan A. and Sam A.) and two sisters, Barbara Beachy, and Anna Mae Hochstetler, one son Daniel Hochstetler, and a step-son.

A time of visitation will be Friday, March 13, 2015 from 2-5 and 6-8 PM at the Hicksville Mennonite Church, 237 West Arthur Street, Hicksville, OH 43526. There will also be calling on Saturday, March 14, 2015 from 9-10 AM prior to the service.

A funeral service in Mr. Hochstetler’s honor will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 10 AM at the Hicksville Mennonite Church, Hicksville, OH with Reverend Steve Eicher officiating. Burial will be a 3PM on Saturday, March 14, 2015 following the service at Oak Park Cemetery, South Cavin Street, Ligonier, IN 46767.
