The Dadismans of America A Family History by Ira Lee Dadisman Jr., pg. 208:
Erasmus was born in Pleasant Creek, Taylor Co., VA, (now WV) on 10/16/1855. He trained for carpentry with his father. Being a brilliant student he decided to become a public school teacher. Erasmus was a man of small stature which often caused him problems and ridicule. Stories told by relatives believe this fact may have contributed to his leaving home in 1883. His last visit with the family was with his brother, David Hiram, in the Philippi, WV area. He reportedly told his brother that he was "going west". David's son, Philip Wayne Dadisman related that his father would only say of Erasmus, "that Erasmus had gone west." It is thought that he went to Salem, OH., to teach, and that he later lived in Colorado where it was thought that he had died in March or April of 1940.

In a 2003 query by Quincy Dadisman, he stated Erasmus Smith DADISMAN, born in Taylor County 1856, but lived until about 1888 in Barbour County. He left after an altercation in which he was threatened with arrest. Reportedly went West.

Erasmus Dadisman lived in Wichita, Kansas from 1886-1889. An article was published in the Wichita Beacon January 6, 1917 in which J.D. Dadisman was seeking information regarding his brother Erasmus, whom he had not seen or heard from since 1886.

Erasmus moved on to Jasper County, Missouri where he died in July of 1917.
