'Johnnie' was so proud of being a farm girl, born and raised on a dairy farm in her beloved Vincentown. She was a member of the Pemberton Boro High School, Class of 1943, where she participated in field hockey and cheerleading.
She was a member of the Vincentown, Pomona, NJ State and National Granges for 75 years; she raised her children in the Vincentown United Methodist Church, and later became a member of the Buddtown United Methodist Church. She also was active in the Vincentown Vets Wives, a member of the Vincent Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, Southampton Historical Society, and the Southampton Chapter of Deborah Hospital.
Charlotte was employed by Allen Coal Co. and later became part owner. She also was a cafeteria worker at Vincentown Public Schools, and after raising her family, she worked at Medford Nursery.
Charlotte enjoyed gardening, sewing and needlework, but the highlight of her life was her family. She was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Stella Scott; stepmother, Frances Scott; husband, Harry T. Allen Jr.; brother, Howard L. Scott; and sister, Mary Easlick Marrone. She is survived by her sons, Walter H. Allen (Sharon) of Fieldsboro; Ronald L. (Sandra) of Vincentown, Roger P. Allen (Betty) of Vincentown; daughters, Judith A. Misoyianis and Barbara L. Pratt of Vincentown; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Verna 'Till' M. Ostner and Wildred S. Sharp (Clarence) of Vincentown; sister-in-law, Mary E. Scott; and her many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 12, at Perinchief Chapels, 438 High St., Mount Holly, where there will be a viewing from 9 a.m. until time of service. Interment will follow in the Vincentown Baptist Cemetery.
