Gertie J. Johnson, of Tyler, Texas, formerly of Columbia, died Feb. 2, 1985. She was 89. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Johnson was born March 5, 1896, in Boone County, to John Samuel and Barbara Ellen Cundiff Griggs. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Columbia. Surviving are two sons, Leonard F. and John E. Johnson; six daughters Ruby King, Margaret King, Pat Morton, Eula Singleton, Dorothy Lee and Ellen Anderson; 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son and a brother.
