Peggy Sue Davis, age 80, passed away peacefully Monday March 16th, 2015. Peggy was born November 26th, 1934 in Red Level, Alabama. A true southern lady of her generation, she devoted her life to supporting & caring for her husband, Dr. Earl F. Davis, their children & their home. Peggy a Home Economics Major at Auburn University, had the gift of hospitality which shined brightly as she welcomed friends & guests into the home. One of her fondest memories was the Davis house being used as a gathering place for her children & their friends where Southern meals & desserts where always available for all to enjoy. Known for her contagious sense of humor, Peggy was also loving, caring, patient, tactful & courageous; a woman of unwavering morals & strength. She loved being part of her children and grandchildren’s sporting events & many activities. She often referred to herself as “The Chauffeur”. Peggy grew up in church & was a member of Athens First United Methodist Church for 50 years. She had a simple but profound faith in Jesus Christ, which gave her strength & comfort, especially in her last days. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Lee & Pearl Foshee; her brother & sister-in-law, Dean & Janie Foshee, & her beloved husband of 52 years, Earl F. Davis. Survivors include her children, Lee (Angel) Davis of Watkinsville, GA; Lisa Davis of Athens, GA & Jay(Pippa Lee) Davis of Barnesville, GA; as well as her grandchildren, Megan(Andrew)Kumming, Haley Davis, Jackson Davis & Pippen Davis. Visitation will be Saturday March 21st, 2015 from 1-2 p.m. at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home East, 4355 Lexington Road, Athens, Ga 30605. A graveside funeral service will be held at the adjacent Athens Memorial Gardens at 2 p.m. All are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to UGA Gifts Receivables, payable to UGAF c/o Earl Davis Chair of Taxation, 394 South Milledge, Athens, Ga 30602 or Athens First United Methodist Church, http://athensfirstumc.org/giving/ Lord & Stephens East is in charge of arrangements.
