GALVESTON — William Paul Beard, 80, died Monday, July 30, 2007, at Turner Geriatric Center in Galveston. Funeral services celebrating Paul's life will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 2, 2007, at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Pinard officiating.
Paul was born June 19, 1927, to parents Alvin Beard and Eula Stone Beard. He graduated from Ball High School and then graduated from the University of Texas where he majored in music. Mr. Beard served in the United States Navy in World War II and later in the Peace Corps. He was proficient in the flute and studied under renowned musician William Kinkaid in Maine. He was an avid golfer with his many friends and was a talented magician attending many magician conventions. Previously employed at UTMB, Paul was employed in the IT services division of American National Insurance Company from 1968 until his retirement in 1992.
Preceded in death by his parents and a brother Richard Beard, survivors include his cousin Marianne Ciaccio and husband Louis, Sr. of Galveston and their children, Louis Ciaccio, Jr. and wife Jackie, Ron Ciaccio and wife Rhonda and Don Ciaccio; sister in law, Helen Lee and husband Phillip, nieces, Barbara Brown and husband Michael of Silverspring, Maryland, and Margaret Lamb and husband David and their children, Carolyn, Valerie and Ian all of Kingston, Ontario, Canada.
