Mildred J. “Mickey” Gulley, 90, died March 14, 2015 at Community Hospital in Torrington. Memorials may be made to the Goshen County Library or the Presbyterian Women.
Mickey was born Oct. 6, 1924 in Loretto, Neb., the daughter of Cecil and Dorothy (Mills) Foote. She grew up in Prairie Center and attended school there. During her junior year, she moved to Torrington and lived with and worked for the Gibsons. She graduated from Torrington High School. She attended college in Laramie for a short time before teaching at Fox Park near Laramie. She came to Prairie Center to teach. She married Perry Hacker on July 14, 1946 in Torrington. Mickey was a homemaker/housewife and supplemented the family income by ironing clothes for professional people in Torrington. She was a rural mail carrier for a time and worked for the Schupps at Roy’s Cold Storage. She then became the office manager for the family business, Hacker Oil. Perry died in 1989, and she retired in 1990. She later married Speed Gulley on June 9, 1992.
Mickey enjoyed knitting, cross-stitch, playing bridge and cards with her friends, and cooking for her family. She was the official/unofficial county historian. She was a member of the First Wyoming United Presbyterian Church where she worked with the Presbyterian Women.
Mickey is survived by her daughter, Janet Tibesar and her husband, Robert, of Las Vegas, Nev.; her son, Bruce Hacker and his wife, Dorothy, of Torrington; grandchildren, Christy Hacker of Rapid City, S.D., Jennifer (Harold) Albaugh and Kara Tibesar of Las Vegas, Shawna (Anthony) Paules of Lingle, Brian (Andrea) Hacker of Green River, Miranda Hacker of Torrington; and numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; a son, Jim; three sisters; and two brothers.
