Magdalen "Madge" E. Schaitel, age 86, of Janesville, died March 18, 2015, at St. Elizabeth Manor, Footville. She was born in Cashton, WI on Sept. 29, 1928, the youngest daughter of John and Margaret (Marx) Frederick. She married Paul V. Schaitel on June 1, 1946, in Cashton, and he preceded her in death on July 10, 2000. Together they raised 8 children in Janesville. Madge worked at Cedar Crest for 18 years, and retired in 1984. She was a member and volunteer of St. Patrick Catholic Church, VFW Auxiliary, and worked with the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, day trips up north to visit relatives, was a walker, and stopped to talk to her many friends along the way. You could always come over for a cup of coffee and lively conversation. She is survived by her 3 daughters:; 11 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and sister. She was preceded in death by her husband; daughters, Karen Schaitel 1997, Nancy Burdick 2005, and Sandra Bouton 2014; son, Paul J. Schaitel 1997; granddaughter; son-in-law; and 4 brothers and five sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2015, at ST. PATRICK'S CATHOLIC CHURCH with Rev. Thomas Marr officiating. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Entombment will be in Mt. Olivet Mausoleum.
