Grandma Hanks, an aged and highly respected citizen of Adair county, died Monday at the home of her son, Warner Hanks, near Wilsontown.

"Grandma" Hanks Died Sunday
"Grandma" Hanks, an aged and highly respected Adair county citizen, died Sunday at the home of her son, Warner Hanks, in Wilson township. She was one of the early settlers in that county and for the past few years has been making her home with her daughter near Tullvania and with her son.

Mrs. Mary Shelton Hanks passed away at the home of her daughter. Mrs. John Elliott, of near Tullvania, on Monday, Dec. 2. She was buried on the old home place in Knox county, the farm her father. Medley Shelton, entered in 1840, and moved with his family to it in 1842, from Kentucky, when Mrs. Hanks was 10 years old. When he moved to this country there were six girls in the family and Mrs. Hanks is the last one to pass away. She was 86 years, 5 months and 15 days old at the time of her death.—xxx
